Volunteerism in 2023

Kandice RileyCommunity Engagement

What is the value of volunteerism? Volunteers are essential for sustaining the mission of many local nonprofits. The current estimated national value of each volunteer hour is $29.95. When we choose to give our time and talents to local agencies, we’re directly investing in the health of our community.

Your time and unique skills are valuable gifts. Whether you like to work with numbers, tell stories, or comfort others; whether you’re a good seamstress, carpenter, or gardener; whether you’re a marketing professional, a teacher, or an event planner, there is a place for you in non-profit volunteerism.

United Way is offering several on-ramps for community engagement in 2023.

Day of Caring:

Day of Caring is the perfect opportunity for volunteers of all skill types and ages to make a difference! The largest volunteer event in Southwest Missouri, Day of Caring mobilizes thousands of volunteers for a day of service to non-profit agencies across the Ozarks. It is a treasured tradition in our community, spanning over 30 years. Workplaces and civic groups enjoy getting out of the office and building teamwork. Join us this summer for this incredible event. Registration will be open April 10-28, 2023.

This one-day workshop is hosted in partnership with the Great Game of Business, and pairs non-profit agencies with uniquely skilled volunteers for a day of strategic planning around a specific business practice.
