United Way of the Ozarks is pleased to name Janelle Mitchell as its new director of resource development.

The director of resource development is a vital member of United Way’s team. In this role, Janelle will build relationships with community leaders, while increasing awareness and support around United Way’s mission.

“We are excited to have Janelle join our team. She comes to us with over 12 years of vast nonprofit experience and is passionate about creating pathways out of poverty,” said Rachael Walsh, vice president of resource development. “She is driven to make our community a better place and shows compassion for others in all that she does. She has a way of connecting with individuals on a personal level, and I know she will help build meaningful connections in our community.”

Janelle earned her degree in business management from Evangel University. Most recently, she served as the associate director of the Burrell Foundation, after spending four years working in development at Victory Mission. In 2012, she founded SingMomzRock, an outreach group for supporting single moms, which is now part of a national organization. Janelle considers launching this initiative one of her proudest accomplishments.

For Janelle, advocating for positive community change is her life’s work; especially as it pertains to lifting families out of poverty and into self-sufficiency.

“I am passionate about making our community a better place and couldn’t think of a better way to do that than through United Way!” Janelle said.
