This year at United Way of the Ozarks, we’re working to Connect the Dots between you and your community. January is National Mentoring Month, so we want to highlight a few of our partners that provide creative, effective mentoring opportunities to local students.

Having a mentor greatly increases a student’s potential for success. In fact, children and youth who have mentors experience improved self-esteem, greater academic achievement, increased motivation in school, and higher quality lifestyle choices. Learn more about the wonderful impact a mentor can have on a child’s life from United Way Worldwide. The local mentoring programs that United Way funds enrich students’ lives in creative and diverse ways. By partnering with the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland, Boy Scouts of America Ozarks Trails Council, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, we support effective mentoring opportunities to engage and empower local youth.

Here’s how you can Connect the Dots and support meaningful mentoring programs in the Ozarks:

GIVE

When you donate to United Way of the Ozarks, you are directly benefitting our community’s most pressing issues. Without our donors, none of these initiatives would be possible. Your financial support means more than ever, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ADVOCATE

Supporting United Way can also extend beyond financial donations. We always encourage our community members to advocate for those most in need. To help us spread our mission, you can be an advocate for United Way of the Ozarks by:

VOLUNTEER

Our partner agencies highlighted in this video are always seeking additional support. Reach out to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, the Boy Scouts Ozark Trails Council, or the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland to see how you can volunteer and help our community in new and meaningful ways.

LIVE UNITED

When you choose to LIVE UNITED, you are supporting a community-wide effort to support students through proven mentoring programs. Sign up for our monthly newsletters here to stay connected to the work United Way of the Ozarks is doing to make a difference in our community.
