On Thursday, June 26, United Way Ozarks Region hosted its 33rd Day of Caring event. 54 area nonprofits benefitted from the annual day dedicated to taking on projects those organizations would not otherwise have the time or manpower to tackle.
“On our 33rd Day of Caring, more than 1,400 volunteers showed that United is the Way,” said United Way President and CEO, Brandi VanAntwerp. “Their dedication, compassion, and teamwork brought meaningful change to every corner of our community.”
From gardening and cleaning to building fences and more, the projects varied in scope and complexity—and were made even more challenging by temperatures in the 90s and high humidity. Despite the challenges, volunteers embraced the work wholeheartedly, completing every task with enthusiasm and perseverance.
One standout act of generosity came from Ozarks Tech’s Human Resources Department. When the team noticed an immediate need at the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, they took action, pooling funds to purchase a pallet jack to support the shelter’s operations.
By the end of the day, volunteers provided more than $220,000 worth of labor in only eight short hours.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who stepped up to serve,” said VanAntwerp, “your impact is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together.”
